Marc Newman Biography

Marc Newman is a research historian with specialization in both American History and European History. He has been a public speaker in both NY and FL. Newman was chosen to be a speaker for the Republican Party in NYC for the National Presidential Convention in 1996, while concurrently speaking for the Democrat Party during the same period. Over many years, he has been giving lectures through NYC to the Catskill Region of NY and then presenting in Southern Florida from Palm Beach to Davie as well as Sarasota and neighboring areas. School Districts have brought him in to speak and teach historical topics for students of all ages. While speaking, he appears in period clothing as well as bringing original historical artifacts as props to enhance the topic and the presentation. In a recent show, he appeared as Abraham Lincoln with artifacts regarding Lincoln's political viewpoints in 1860. Newman has a total of 200 shows, many involving music and dance, such as The Swing Era. Aside from appearing in period clothing, he brings in records and performs by singing and dancing, as well as explaining the period and the unique style of the "Swing Kids" generation.

His private museum houses thousands of original artifacts that focus on the American Revolution, the Civil War and the Old West. These give the audience the simulated experience of walking through the National Archives, the Smithsonian and the Library of Congress. From original newspapers, magazines, diaries, weapons, clothing and other primary sources, the content becomes illuminated with the audience receiving the history they did not know from their own education and research. While speaking on the Boston Massacre at FAU (Florida Atlantic University), he appeared in the uniform of Captain Thomas Preston (British Officer) in charge of the squad who fired shots on King Street in Boston, killing five colonists. With a power point of rare and original photos, the audience saw a collection of three dozen original primary sources including the "Trial Transcript of the British Soldiers c. 1770. Included was Sam Adams 1775, The Boston Massacre Eulogy with his name written on the title page. His lectures have become well known and heavily attended. At NOVA SE University, history professors attended his lectures with pen and paper to take notes on information they could use for instruction with their students. At FAU, C-Span III American History came in to film his lecture on "The Zero Factor or the Curse on the White House." Soon after, Fuji Corporation came to his private museum to film him doing the same show for their series in Japan on "Histories Mysteries." A second show was filmed, "Target Assassination," with similarities on the assassination of Lincoln and Kennedy."

Newman has achieved great success as a teacher. Aside from receiving 16 awards, national and state inclusive, some of his students have become History teachers. Some have become officers of high rank in our military inspired by his course "Military History," which he taught to seniors in high school in both NY and FL. Aside from being in uniform, each week the students examined artifacts as they related to the American Revolution, the Civil War up to World War II. His impact especially in this area was acknowledged at a special dinner at West Point. At Fraunces Tavern in NYC, the highly acclaimed historian and author , Thomas Fleming, presented an award to Newman from the American Revolution Roundtable Association. Newman has been a speaker and presenter on radio in NY at WBNR and in FL at WSQF. He has appeared on WTZA in the series "On The River" as Major John Andre at West Point, explaining the British point of view in wanting control of the "S" Channel on the Hudson River with the help of General Benedict Arnold. These are some of the highlights of Newman's career as an Historian, Teacher, Speaker, Archivist, and Radio Commentator.
