Jae Nichelle, a powerful poetry slam champion, began competing in poetry slams at 15 years old, becoming one of the inaugural winners of the 2014 Youth Speaks' national "Raise Up" competition at 17. Now, her spoken word poems have been featured by Write About Now, Speak Up Poetry Series, and Button Poetry. Additionally, her viral piece about anxiety titled "Friends With Benefits" has amassed millions of views online and counting. Nichelle performance style has been called mesmerizing, raw, and even seductive as she captivates audiences around the globe with her voice.

Nichelle is the author of the poetry book "God Themselves" and the chapbook "The Porch" (As Sanctuary). She has worked on media campaigns for Pfizer, Natalist, and Yahoo as well as performed for numerous organizations, universities, and companies.

As evidenced by her 2022 Tedx talk, Nichelle has a passion for language, linguistics, and mental health. She has published articles in AFROPUNK, An Injustice, and Black Youth Project on these subjects. Nichelle identifies as a queer Black woman from the South and will always advocate for LGBTQ rights and women’s rights."
