Emily Goodson Biography

Emily Goodson is deeply committed to reshaping the discourse surrounding intimacy, especially within the context of disability and sexuality.

Her journey began at age 8 when she suffered a childhood brain injury, resulting in partial paralysis on the left side of her body.

After this injury, Goodson faced a host of emotional and physical challenges, achieved significant recovery, and emerged empowered to educate others.

Goodson's creative work has been featured in the LA Times as well as in several photo gallery exhibits, sponsored by Disability Rights Now and the Bold Beauty Project.

In addition to these endeavors, Goodson provides consulting services to help organizations, ranging from start-ups to major production companies, build inclusive workplaces and address systemic talent challenges.

Goodson currently resides in New York City.

    Emily has lived with a physical disability for the past thirty years and the majority of her life. In this interactive workshop, Emily will walk attendees through her lived experience with physical disability and how she settled for dysfunction in her body for the majority of her life. In her healing process, Emily learned that she and many of us try to normalize our struggles when we in actuality could improve our circumstances.

    Emily walks attendees through her personal healing process and strategies and also raises questions about the privilege of healing and workplace implications.

  • Finding My Voice

    In this keynote, Emily walks audiences through the inner reconciliation process needed to be able to best influence others. She guides the audience through the different stakeholders one needs to influence both inside and outside of the workplace and points out that despite what you might think, the most important stakeholder when it comes to influencing is yourself and your own voice.

    Emily talks through the journey she went on to be able to influence thousands of people through her writing and speaking, which culminated in the publication of a column in the LA Times in February 2022.
