Marcus Wesley Stubblefield Biography

Marcus W. Stubblefield is a researcher, criminal legal system transformational strategist, and community collaborator. He currently serves as the Criminal Justice Strategy & Policy Manager for King County, the largest county in Washington State. In this role, Stubblefield’s focus is to bring a human element to a historically inhumane system. Stubblefield collaborates with community and University partners to ensure these goals are achieved with data-informed research. Through these partnerships, Stubblefield creates innovative strategies that center marginalized communities.

Stubblefield joined King County Criminal Justice Team after working for 21 years in community building, youth development, and gang intervention. Stubblefield’s understanding of gangs has proven to be extremely valuable to law enforcement in understanding at-risk youth and young adults, better. Stubblefield’s work has been recognized with several awards: Roland Akers Community Builder Award, Northwest Heritage Outstanding Mentor, Black Professionals Champion for Change, Criminal Justice Innovative Leader.

Stubblefield is known for his ability to relate, inspire, and transport audiences. Whether he is delivering a keynote to a large conference, or using his unique ability to help a small group of listeners understand the interconnectedness of the world we live in, Stubblefield brings his Whole Self to the space, and encourages the listeners to, also.

Stubblefield is a member of the Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corp, Georgetown University Breakthrough Series Collaborative, Washington State Minority and Justice Commission, Men of Melanin, National Office of Violence Prevention, Cities United, Harborview, Injury Prevention and Research Center Stubblefield holds a B.A. in Sociology and a B.A. in Business from Queen’s College, where he was also a member of the inaugural men’s basketball team.
