Yvette Simpson is the Founder & CEO of Yvette Simpson LLC, Your Power Unlocked, a strategic consulting, speaking, and training firm focused on executive and political strategy, communications, and diversity, equity & inclusion. Simpson is also a Political Contributor with ABC News and a panelist for NPR. She is also a licensed lawyer who serves as Director of Culture & Belonging with UB Greensfelder law firm. She previously served six years on Cincinnati City Council, including four years as President Pro Tempore. Simpson also served as the first female CEO of Democracy for America, a national progressive political organization with more than one million members nationwide. Her inaugural book, "On Purpose: The Power of Authenticity and Intention" released in July of 2023 and her podcast, “The Power of Y” launched in January 2024.
Simpson is an energetic, authentic, and empathetic speaker and trainer. She connects with the audience by sharing her own personal journey to executive leadership, the wins and the losses, the advances and the setbacks that have navigated her through her own career. Simpson earned two undergraduate degrees at Miami University, a law degree from The University of Cincinnati, and her MBA from Xavier University.
Active in her local community, Simpson has served on several boards and commissions, including YWCA, the Urban League, and the Contemporary Art Center. She currently serves as the Board Chair for MORTAR and Seven Hills Neighborhood Houses. She is also a member of the Xavier University Executive MBA Business Executive Advisory Board. Simpson was named YWCA Career Woman of Achievement, A Top 100 Influencer by the American City Business Journals, a Woman of Influence by Venue Magazine, A Woman of Distinction by the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, and a Woman Who Means Business by the Cincinnati Business Courier.
Simpson is a proud Cincinnatian, a certified wine educator and winemaker, the wife of cartoonist and home brewer Joe Hoffecker, and the bonus mom to three amazing adult daughters: Katie, Maggie, and Annie.
