Dr. Dayna Baumeister is the co-founder of Biomimicry 3.8 — the world’s leading consulting and professional training firm in nature-inspired design and innovation. Her work has been foundational to the biomimicry movement, establishing it as an innovation and design discipline to meet the world’s most pressing sustainability challenges. Over the past 25+ years, Dr. Baumeister has served as an educator, researcher, and business consultant, assisting more than 100 organizations, including Boeing, General Mills, Herman-Miller, Interface, Microsoft, NASA, Nike, Procter & Gamble, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and Seventh Generation.

Since the early 2000s, Dr. Baumeister has been designing and teaching professional training programs that have cultivated a new generation of biomimicry experts worldwide. The success of these programs led to a partnership between Biomimicry 3.8 and Arizona State University (ASU) in 2015, resulting in the creation of an online graduate certificate program and the world’s first Master of Science in Biomimicry. Dr. Baumeister serves as the director of these graduate programs and is a Professor of Practice in the School of Complex Adaptive Systems at ASU.
