Alison Sander

Alison Sander served as the Director of The Boston Consulting Group's Center for Sensing and Mining the Future, which tracks over 100 Megatrends reshaping the global strategic map. She supported the center from 2005 until 2023, and before that, she served as a globalization topic advisor to BCG from 1997 to 2005. With over 20 years of experience, Sander worked with senior management teams on complex global issues, helping them develop their foresight capacity. Her expertise also lies in designing significant growth strategies for clients across many sectors and using Megatrends to help clients set their long-term visions and identify the next billion dollars of revenue.

Before joining BCG, Sander served as president of Cambridge Transnational Associates, Inc. (CTA), a global consulting firm that provides comprehensive advice to companies and institutions expanding across borders. She also worked for two years in global and private finance at Goldman Sachs & Co. Furthermore, she completed a study on best practices in public-private partnerships, adding to her extensive knowledge and experience in this field.

Sander's work has taken her to over 90 countries, allowing her to assist clients with strategic challenges on a global scale. Her insights and expertise have secured her a place in the June 2001 edition of the Harvard Business Review, and she co-authored a study on the impact of the Asian crisis for the World Economic Forum and Harvard Institute for International Development. Sander's contributions extend beyond her professional work, as she served as an Overseer at the Museum of Science for twelve years and currently serves on the Board of the World Resources Institute. She was also part of the secretariat team for the Sustainable Food Lab.

In addition to her professional and board roles, Sander is the founder of AltWheels, a nonprofit with a mission to build a sustainable transportation and energy vision for the 21st century. The project has earned an EPA New England and a WTS national award for its innovative approach. Furthermore, she is a member of the Asia Society and the Council on Foreign Relations, demonstrating her active engagement with international affairs. Sander frequently shares her knowledge on Megatrends and the future, speaking at various events, including Harvard Business School presentations, the Consumer Electronics Show, and Robobusiness.
