Ana Kasparian

Ana Kasparian is an Armenian-American political commentator known for her role as co-host and producer on the online news show "The Young Turks." Starting as a fill-in producer in 2007, she has since become a significant presence on the network, co-hosting the main show and hosting "The Point." Previously, the show aired a television version on Current TV.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Kasparian is the daughter of Armenian immigrants. Raised in the Reseda area of the San Fernando Valley, she spoke Armenian as her first language and began learning English only when she started school. She graduated from Valley Alternative Magnet High School in Van Nuys in 2004 and from California State University, Northridge (CSUN) in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. She further advanced her education by earning a Master of Political Science in 2010, and she now contributes as a journalism instructor at CSUN.

Before joining "The Young Turks," Kasparian worked as an assistant producer for CBS Radio news stations in Los Angeles, including KFWB and KNX. Her career also includes roles at AOL News, YouTube, TidalTv, and On Point. Alongside Cenk Uygur, she expanded her broadcasting skills to Sirius XM Satellite Radio. Kasparian, who identifies as an agnostic atheist, has been a vocal advocate for engaging younger audiences in news, emphasizing the importance of content over presentation. She previously co-hosted "TYT University," focusing on university student issues, and has been featured in documentaries such as "The Culture High" in 2014.

In her career, Kasparian has not shied away from confronting controversial figures. A notable instance was an interview with James David Manning, during which she robustly responded to his sexist remarks, showcasing her commitment to challenging discriminatory attitudes. Kasparian's forthrightness in such exchanges underscores her role as a prominent voice in progressive media.
