Andrew Berry

As the youngest General Manager (GM) to be appointed to the National Football League (NFL), Andrew Berry immediately took charge: in his first season at the helm, he shaped a roster that helped the team to their first playoff appearance since 2002 and first playoff victory in 26 years.

Understanding the outsized role the NFL has in communities across the country, Berry, who is one of only two Black GMs in the league, believes in using that role as a force for change. In 2020, he launched the #BeTheSolution campaign in response to the nationwide protests over racial injustices. In what began as an email sent to Browns employees, he acknowledged the toll the tragic deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery have had on the community and also challenged recipients to engage in social activism initiatives; in turn, he would respond by offering donations. In 24 hours, 50 employees accepted the challenge and shortly after, Browns fans joined the cause: the challenge raised more than $185,000 for 14 charities.

Prior to re-joining the Browns, where he had earlier served as the Vice President of Personnel, Berry was Vice President of Football Operations for the Philadelphia Eagles. He started his career as a scout for the Indianapolis Colts.

Berry received his AB degree in economics from Harvard University and an SM degree in computer science from the institution's Graduate School of Engineering and Applied Science.
