Angela Hwang

Angela Hwang is the former Chief Commercial Officer and President of the Global Biopharmaceuticals Business at Pfizer and a member of its Executive Leadership Team. Her organization was responsible for bringing all 600 of Pfizer’s medicines and vaccines to patients in 185 countries. At Pfizer, Hwang led seven commercial business units, reaching patients in more than 125 countries. Together, these businesses delivered transformational medicines that addressed major global health priorities in cancer, rare disease, inflammation and immunology, primary care, infectious diseases, and preventative care with vaccines.

Hwang has been ranked among the world’s top leaders in healthcare and business by Crain’s, Business Insider, Forbes, and Fortune, which placed her in the Most Powerful Women in Business list four years in a row. She is an A100 Honoree, which recognizes the most impactful AAPI leaders of the past year. She also received the President’s Award from the National Diversity Council in 2021 for championing diversity, equity, and inclusion. In 2022, Hwang was named Cornell University’s Hatfield Fellow and in 2023, was recognized as a Ascend A-list Honoree for her professional achievements as an Asian American leader.

A passionate advocate for women’s leadership and global health equity, Hwang has been driven throughout her career to deliver breakthroughs to patients worldwide. Her upbringing as an Asian girl in apartheid-era South Africa profoundly shaped her worldview, instilling a deep commitment to equity that informs all aspects of her work today.

Hwang is on the Board of Directors of UPS, Cornell’s Johnson Graduate School of Management Advisory Council and previously, the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations and the U.S. China Business Council. She received her BS in microbiology and biochemistry from the University of Cape Town and her MBA from Cornell University.
