Brian Duffy

Brian Duffy, a retired U.S. Air Force colonel and former astronaut for NASA, is renowned for his extensive space experience. With four Space Shuttle missions under his belt, Duffy has piloted STS-45 Atlantis, STS-57 Endeavour, STS-72 Endeavour, and commanded STS-92 Discovery. His remarkable space flight experience adds up to a total of 40 days, 17 hours, 34 minutes, and 59 seconds.

Duffy's expertise extends beyond spacecraft piloting. He has logged over 5,000 hours of flight time in more than 25 different aircraft, which demonstrates his considerable experience in aeronautics. Furthermore, Duffy contributed to the development and testing of displays, flight crew procedures, and computer software for Space Shuttle flights. He has also served as spacecraft communicator (CAPCOM) in Mission Control during numerous Space Shuttle missions and held positions as Assistant Director (Technical) and Deputy Director (Acting) at the Johnson Space Center.

After retiring from the Air Force and NASA, Duffy continued to influence the field of space exploration in his roles at Lockheed Martin Corporation and Orbital ATK. As Vice President of Mission Operations and Support Services for Lockheed Martin Corporation and currently as Vice President and JSC Program Manager for Exploration Systems at Orbital ATK, Duffy's leadership continues to shape the industry. In recognition of his significant contributions, Duffy was inducted into the United States Astronaut Hall of Fame in 2016.

Duffy graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the United States Air Force Academy and later attained a Master of Science degree in systems management from the University of Southern California.
