Celeste Yim

Celeste Yim, a Korean-Canadian comedian and writer, has distinguished themselves in the entertainment and writing industry. In 2019, they received the Canadian Women Artists' Award from the New York Foundation for the Arts, and their play "Not Only Is Everyone As Wonderful" was produced at the National MFA Playwrights Festival. The following year, Yim was hired by "Saturday Night Live" as the only new writer for that hiring season, marking a significant milestone as the first writer to identify as non-binary on the show.

In 2023, Yim advanced to become a writing supervisor for "Saturday Night Live" during the second half of season 48, making them the first AAPI writer to be promoted to that position. Yim has produced over 70 sketches, with many pertaining to race, gender, and sexuality. Alongside their scripting for the popular show, Yim was also a 2021 Lambda Literary Playwriting Fellow. Their work extends beyond the television screen, as they are currently a member of Youngblood at Ensemble Studio Theatre, contributing to the vibrant and dynamic theatre scene.

Yim's affiliations extend across multiple prestigious organizations, as they are a member of the Television Academy, The Writers Guild of America, and The Dramatists Guild of America. Their roots in the industry are deep, with Yim being an alumnus of the National MFA Playwrights Festival produced by Theater Masters and the Bob Curry Fellowship at The Second City Toronto.
