Chris Redd

Chris Redd is an American comedian, writer, rapper, and actor. He was a cast member of NBC's "Saturday Night Live" from 2017 to 2022, beginning as a featured player in season 43. His characters included notable figures such as Kanye West, Katt Williams, Lil Wayne, Cory Booker, Steve Urkel, and Mahershala Ali. Redd received the Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for the "SNL" song "Come Back, Barack."

Before joining "Saturday Night Live," Redd discovered his passion for improvisational comedy, which led him to join the comedy group The Second City. He was a member of its touring company and has performed across the country and internationally doing standup. In 2016, he moved to Los Angeles to further pursue his acting career, making his film debut as Hunter the Hungry, an underground rapper, in the mockumentary "Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping." Redd's film credits also include roles in "Scare Me," "Vampires vs. the Bronx," "Deep Murder," "The House," and "A Futile and Stupid Gesture."

Redd co-starred in the 2017–2018 Netflix comedy series "Disjointed," playing the role of Dank, a stoner. He has also appeared in series such as "Kenan," "Wet Hot American Summer," NBC’s "Will & Grace," Netflix’s "Love," TV Land’s "Teachers," Comedy Central’s "Detroiters," and "Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents." Additionally, Redd has lent his voice to projects like Netflix’s "Big Mouth," Audible’s "64th Man," and Disney’s "Star vs. the Forces of Evil."

His debut stand-up comedy album, "But Here We Are," was released by Comedy Central Records in 2019. Redd is also active in charity work, particularly with Poverty Alleviation Charities in Chicago and their Letters to Santa program.
