Dr. Christopher Michael Jones is a trailblazing leader and the 2022 Democratic nominee for Governor of Arkansas, making history as the first African American to receive such a nomination in the state. With over 20 years of experience in energy, education, and community development, Dr. Jones has made significant impacts through his leadership roles, including as Executive Director of the Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub, where he launched the "Skills to Launch" program, greatly enhancing job certifications across Arkansas.
Dr. Jones’s holds a Ph.D. in Urban Studies and Planning from MIT, where he also earned two M.S. degrees in Nuclear Engineering and Technology & Policy. Additionally, he graduated with bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and physics from Morehouse College. This strong academic foundation has informed his work in leadership, community development, and strategic planning.
Beyond his professional and academic endeavors, Dr. Jones is a seasoned public speaker and a published author, with numerous contributions to significant studies and symposiums. He resides in Little Rock with his wife, Dr. Jerrilyn Jones, and their three daughters, where they remain deeply committed to community service and the betterment of Arkansas.
