Damien Dwin

As the founder and CEO of Lafayette Square, Damien Dwin has charted a career path filled with noteworthy positions and accomplishments. Prior to his current role, Dwin co-founded and co-led Brightwood Capital Advisors, demonstrating his ability to not only conceive of complex financial strategies but also to successfully implement them. In his earlier career, he was the head of North American special opportunities at Credit Suisse and vice president at Goldman Sachs, earning the Michael P. Mortara Award for Innovation during his tenure at Goldman Sachs. Dwin launched his financial career at Salomon Brothers, gaining invaluable experience that would later serve him in his entrepreneurial endeavors.

Aside from his professional achievements, Dwin is a recognized thought leader on several critical issues. He has written for respected publications like the Financial Times, Entrepreneur, and Inc.com, sharing his insights on place-based investing, mass incarceration, and the use of capitalism for good. His thought leadership extends to speaking engagements, such as participating in the Aspen Ideas Festival.

In addition to his professional work, Dwin is heavily involved in philanthropic activities. He currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Vera Institute of Justice and is a member of multiple non-profit boards, including the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the Studio Museum in Harlem, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Woodberry Forest School, and the Boys’ Club of New York. Dwin also contributes to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture as a Council Member, showcasing his dedication to cultural preservation and education.
