Damon Hill

Damon Hill is a British former racing driver and the 1996 Formula One World Champion. As the son of Graham Hill, a two-time Formula One World Champion, Damon made history as the first son of a champion to win the title, a feat later matched only by Nico Rosberg. Hill began his racing career on motorbikes before transitioning to single-seater racing cars, progressing steadily to the International Formula 3000 Championship, where he remained competitive despite not achieving a race win.

Hill joined the Formula One grid as a test driver for the Williams team, which had just secured the championship. His potential was quickly recognized, and he was promoted to a race seat, where he secured his first of 22 Grand Prix victories at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Throughout the mid-1990s, he became the primary rival to Michael Schumacher, with their intense competition culminating in several on- and off-track clashes. The most notable was their controversial collision at the Australian Grand Prix, which resulted in Schumacher winning the championship by a single point. Hill went on to win his own World Championship, securing eight victories in the season, but was unexpectedly dropped by Williams afterward.

Following his time at Williams, Hill joined the Arrows team and later moved to Jordan, where he secured the team's first-ever victory at the Belgian Grand Prix. He retired from competitive racing at the end of his tenure with Jordan, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and determination.

Since retiring, Hill has pursued a range of interests and ventures. He founded the Prestige and Super Car Private Members Club, P1 International, and made appearances as a guitarist in celebrity bands. He also served as the president of the British Racing Drivers' Club, where he was instrumental in securing a long-term contract for Silverstone to host Formula One races, overseeing significant renovations that solidified the circuit's future in the sport.

Currently, Damon Hill is a respected voice in motorsport media, providing expert analysis as part of the Sky Sports F1 broadcasting team. In addition to his media work, he authored his autobiography, "Watching the Wheels," which provides an insightful look into his racing career and personal life. Hill's contributions to motorsport have been recognized with his inclusion in the Formula 1 Hall of Fame on Formula1.com, affirming his status as a prominent figure in the world of Formula One.
