David Birch

David G.W. Birch is an author, advisor, and commentator on digital financial services, and serves as the Global Ambassador for Consult Hyperion. He is also a Technology Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Financial Innovation and a Visiting Professor at the University of Surrey Business School. Birch holds a number of board-level advisory roles, enhancing his expertise in the field.

In addition to his roles at Consult Hyperion, Birch is the Chairman of the annual Digital Money Forum and Digital Identity Forum in London. He has authored several influential books, including "Before Babylon, Beyond Bitcoin: From money we understand to money that understands us," published in 2017 with a foreword by Andrew Haldane, Chief Economist at the Bank of England, and "Identity is the New Money," published in 2014. His writing has appeared in The Guardian, where he has penned more than a hundred Second Sight columns, as well as in his book "Digital Identity Management: Technological, Business and Social Implications," published under Gower Publishing Ltd. in 2007.

Birch is an experienced public speaker and moderator, having delivered talks at major events such as TED, Wired, Meaning, and LIFT, and chaired panels at Mobile World Congress and Money 2020. He has delivered TEDx talks on topics including "The Future of Money" and "Unexpected Consequences of Open Banking," and discussed "Tokenizing all Assets and Blockchain 3.0" at another TEDx event. Additionally, he hosts the Consult Hyperion podcast, engaging in conversations with identity and digital transaction experts. Birch is based in England, where he continues to influence the digital financial services landscape both locally and globally.
