David Jeremiah

Dr. David Jeremiah, founder and CEO of Turning Point Ministries and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon, California, felt God’s calling on his life at a very early age. Born February 13, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio, he was raised in a family deeply committed to ministry. At the age of eleven, Jeremiah and his family moved to Dayton, Ohio, where his father, Dr. James T. Jeremiah, was the Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and in 1953 became the President of Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio.

Jeremiah followed in his father’s footsteps, receiving a Bachelor of Arts from Cedarville College in 1963. That same year, he married his college sweetheart, Donna Thompson. He then earned a Masters degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1967 and completed additional graduate work at Grace Seminary. He was granted the Doctor of Divinity degree from Cedarville College in 1981.

In 1969, Jeremiah began his pastoral work at Blackhawk Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he also developed a Christian school for grades K through 12. The church grew significantly under his leadership. In 1981, he moved to California to become the senior pastor at Scott Memorial Baptist Church, now known as Shadow Mountain Community Church, which also houses Southern California Seminary and Christian Unified Schools. Jeremiah launched Turning Point Ministries in 1982, which features a 30-minute radio program now heard on over 2,200 stations worldwide. The ministry's television program, launched in 1982 and went nationwide in 2000, reaches close to 200 million homes globally each week. Notably, the Spanish edition of Turning Point, "Momento Decisivo", is heard in every country with a Spanish-speaking population.

Jeremiah is a prolific author, having written more than 70 books including "People are asking Is This The End?", "A Life Beyond Amazing", "Overcomer", and "The Book of Signs". In 2013, he published "The Jeremiah Study Bible", emphasizing his commitment to teaching biblical principles and their application to everyday living.

A sought-after conference speaker, Jeremiah frequently engages with audiences at institutions such as Cedarville College, Dallas Theological Seminary, and the Moody Bible Institute, among others. With the support of his wife, Donna, Jeremiah has seen Turning Point grow into a significant ministry. They share four grown children and twelve grandchildren. His dedication remains firm in teaching the full scope of the Word of God and reaching the lost through his broadcasts and writings.
