David Zinczenko is a publisher, author, and businessman. In addition to his roles as the Executive Vice President and General Manager of Men's Health, Women's Health, Prevention, and Rodale Books, he served as the Editorial Director of Men's Fitness and was the Nutrition and Wellness Editor at ABC News. His early life saw him grow up in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and attend Liberty High School and later Moravian College. His commitment to service extended to the U.S. Navy Reserves.
After serving in the military, Zinczenko commenced his career in 1991, working as an assistant editor at Men's Journal. In 2000, he was appointed the editor-in-chief of Men's Health. The brand thrived under his leadership, expanding to 39 international editions in 46 countries. Significant achievements during his tenure include being named Ad Week's Editor of the Year in 2008 and leading the magazine to win two National Magazine Awards. In recognition of the magazine's success, Zinczenko and Men's Health were honored as "The #1 Most Notable Launch of the Past 25 Years" by Min in 2010.
His role as an editorial director extended to other publications. He oversaw the launch of Women's Health and Best Life, and later, he was named the editorial director of both Organic Gardening and Prevention in 2011. His influence on Women's Health, in particular, brought on a successful magazine redesign and led Advertising Age to deem it the "Magazine of the Year" in 2009.
Outside of the publishing world, Zinczenko contributed to health-related legislation, including the establishment of "National Men's Health Week" in 1994. He took his advocacy for health a step further by launching FitSchools in 2007, a campaign aimed at revitalizing physical education programs in America's elementary schools.
In 2013, Zinczenko launched Galvanized Media, a firm that owns and operates Eat This, Not That!, Best Life, and Zero Belly. His role at ABC News as a Nutrition and Wellness Editor followed the same year. He returned to Men's Health in 2018, taking up the position of interim editorial director.
Zinczenko's writing accomplishments include authoring 20 New York Times bestsellers. His fight against childhood obesity came to the fore when he co-wrote, with Matt Goulding, "Eat This, Not That! For Kids," which was published in August 2008. The series consists of 12 books co-written by the pair.
