Deryck Whibley

Deryck Whibley is the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, keyboardist, main songwriter and producer for the rock band Sum 41. As the founder and only constant member of the band, Whibley has guided the group through numerous projects, including the release of albums such as "All Killer No Filler" and "Heaven :x: Hell." The band's single "Fat Lip" reached number-one on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart, and they have won two Juno Awards: Group of the Year in 2002 and Rock Album of the Year for "Chuck" in 2005.

In addition to his work with Sum 41, Whibley has also made significant contributions to other areas of the music industry. He has worked as a producer and manager, participating in projects such as Tommy Lee's "Tommyland: The Ride" and Avril Lavigne's "The Best Damn Thing." His skills as a musician extend beyond his roles with Sum 41, as evidenced by his proficient use of a black customized '72 Fender Telecaster Deluxe and his signature guitar with Squier. He has also collaborated with other artists, contributing to the song "No Defeat for the Brave" by While She Sleeps in 2021 and releasing a collaboration track with Simple Plan called "Ruin My Life" in 2022.

Whibley's experiences and accomplishments extend beyond the music industry. He played the character Tony in the movie "Dirty Love" and appeared as a guest character in "King of the Hill." He has also written a memoir titled "Walking Disaster: My Life Through Heaven and Hell," which was released on October 8, 2024. Despite facing significant health challenges, including chronic back pain from multiple injuries and hospitalization in 2014 for severe liver and kidney damage due to alcoholism, Whibley remains active and continues to contribute significantly to the music industry.
