Elad Shoushan

Over the course of his lifetime Elad Shoushan has had multiple careers. He’s been a professional basketball player in Israel, a soldier in the Israeli army and a software engineer at the likes of Intel and General Electric. However, in 2012 he chose to leave all of this behind in order to pursue his entrepreneurial itch and started Ready4, an EdTech VC-Backed startup company, while doing his MBA at MIT Sloan.

The inspiration for Ready4 came when Elad was preparing for the GMAT and found himself challenged to get his desired score. An early adopter of the iPhone, Elad was accustomed to using technology to get things done, and found it hard to study the old-fashioned way, which allowed little flexibility for people constantly on the go. That’s why he decided to develop an app that would allow students to exchange the books with smartphones, and study at their own pace and convenience.

Fast-forward to 2019, Ready4’s AI-powered adaptive learning prep apps and online prep platform became the number one choice for learners via Apple’s AppStore and Google Play Store in the US, India, and China and many other countries. Ready4 apps were featured over 2,000 times by Apple as best apps for test prep and education and helped over 2.5 million registered students in 195 countries prepare for major entrance exams such as the GMAT, GRE, SAT, ACT, MCAT, etc. Ready4 also signed 100+ universities and public education companies as clients that used the Ready4 platform to recruit students for their degree programs.

As Ready4’s CEO, Elad scaled the company to a 65-persons team across US and Israel and raised $13M investment from leading VC investors including Square Peg Capital, ZhenFund, Accomplice VC, Atlas Ventures, and TAL Education Group. Elad led the company through a number of industry recognitions including selection by EdTech20 as one of the world's 20 most innovative educational technology companies in 2016 and earning the prestigious 2016 ASU GSV award. In 2019, Ready4 was acquired by TAL Education Group (NYSE:TAL), a $15 billion education company based in Beijing, China. Elad has appeared many times on prestigious stages such as CES 2016, ASU GSV 2016, LearnLunch, MIT, MIT Technology Review, Forbes, and more. He is on an advisory board of multiple startups, a mentor at Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship, mentor at Microsoft 365x accelerator with Sarona Partners, Mentor and Judge at MassChallenge.

Today he’s serving as an entrepreneur in residence at MIT and Accomplice VC.

Elad received an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management and B.sc in Information Systems Engineering Cum Laude from The Technion.

He lives with his wife and two children in Cambridge, MA where he continues to advise, mentor, and help other entrepreneurs at MIT and in Greater Boston Area.
