Elana Meyers Taylor

Elana Meyers Taylor is a distinguished American Olympic bobsledder and World Champion. Since starting her bobsledding career in 2007, Meyers Taylor has gone on to represent the United States in numerous international competitions, bringing home an array of medals, including silver and bronze distinctions from the Olympic Games in the two-woman bobsled event. Furthermore, her skill and perseverance have earned her multiple medals in the World Championships, including a gold in the women's bobsled event.

Off the ice, Meyers Taylor is a graduate of George Washington University, where she was an active member of the softball team. In 2019, she served as the president of the Women's Sports Foundation, a position she held after receiving a grant from the foundation. This role allowed her to advocate for female athletes, a cause she is deeply passionate about. Meyers Taylor's commitment to fighting for equality is evident in her actions, such as when she made history in 2014 by becoming the first woman to win a medal in a men's event in an international competition.

Throughout her career, Meyers Taylor has faced numerous challenges, including a concussion suffered while racing in Germany in 2014. Despite the setback, she won a world championship title just a month after her initial concussion and was cleared to compete in mid-December of that year. Her resilience was on display once again when she returned from a torn Achilles and continued to compete at the highest level, even winning World Cup championships in the 2014-2015 and 2021-2022 seasons. In addition to her athletic pursuits, Meyers Taylor has used her platform to address issues of racism and discrimination in sports, creating a workshop to share experiences and expose biases.
