Elisa New

Elisa New, the Powell M. Cabot Professor of American Literature at Harvard University, has a keen interest and specialization in American poetry, American literature, religion in literature, and Jewish literature. Before her tenure at Harvard, she nurtured young minds at the University of Pennsylvania. In her journey, she has not only been an educator but also a creator, notably establishing the television show "Poetry in America."

Increasing her influence in entertainment, New directs Verse Video Education in addition to serving as the director of the Center for Public Humanities at Arizona State University. These roles enable her to broaden the reach of her passion for poetry and literature, making them accessible and engaging to a wider audience. Her dedication to her craft is also evident in her contributions to literature, including her works "The Regenerate Lyric: Theology and Innovation in American Poetry," "The Line's Eye: Poetic Experience, American Sight," and "Jacob's Cane: A Jewish Family's Journey from the Four lands of Lithuania to the Ports of Baltimore and London."
