Frank Martin Biography
Frank Martin is the head coach of the University of Massachusetts men's basketball team. Martin brought 15 years of head coaching experience to Amherst after spending 10 seasons prior as the head coach at South Carolina, where he led the Gamecocks to the program's first ever NCAA Final Four in 2017. Prior to that, he was the head coach of Kansas State University for five seasons.
Martin has led his teams to a total of five NCAA tournaments and one Final Four appearance as a head coach. He was named the Big 12 Conference Men's Basketball Coach of the Year in 2010 and won the Jim Phelan Award, given to the most outstanding head basketball coach in NCAA Division I, in 2017.
The son of Cuban political exiles and the first American-born member of his family, Martin graduated with a bachelor's degree in physical education from Florida International University.
