Harmony Korine Biography
Harmony Korine is a film director, screenwriter, actor and artist. He was born in Bolinas, California. He grew up on the east coast in Nashville and New York. He is known for his experimental style, use of nonlinear plot, dark humor, symbolism and metaphors.
Korine rose to fame when, at just 19 years old, he wrote the script for "Kids," an independent coming of age film starring Chloë Sevigny and Rosario Dawson. The film earned him an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best First Screenplay.
In 2013, he directed "Spring Breakers," the experimental crime film starring James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez and Ashley Benson. The film received mostly positive reviews, appearing on multiple top ten lists for the year.
In addition to film, Korine also has close ties to the music industry. He directed a video clip for Rihanna's "Needed Me" and he co-wrote the Lana Del Rey song "Florida Kilos."
