Henry Chesbrough

Henry Chesbrough is best known as “the father of Open Innovation.” Chesbrough currently serves as an adjunct professor and the faculty director of the Garwood Center for Corporate Innovation at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. Additionally, he holds the Maire Tecnimont Chair of Open Innovation at Luiss University in Rome, Italy. His expertise in the field of innovation is further highlighted by his role as chairman of the Open Innovation Center - Brazil and his time spent teaching at Harvard Business School from 1997 to 2003.

Chesbrough is known for introducing the concept of "Open Innovation," a term he coined and has extensively explored through his work. This is reflected in his position on the board of advisors for Induct Software, which offers tools for managing open innovation processes. His ideas on this topic have been disseminated through his authorship of several books, including "Open Innovation: The New Imperative for Creating and Profiting from Technology" (2003), "Open Business Models: How to Thrive in the New Innovation Landscape" (2006), and "Open Services Innovation: Rethinking Your Business to Grow and Compete in a New Era" (2010).

In 2020, Chesbrough was the recipient of the Herbert Simon Award, signifying recognition of his immense contributions to the field of innovation. With a vast knowledge base and a dynamic approach to business and innovation, Chesbrough's insights are sought after by industries around the world. His many roles and achievements are a testament to his understanding of complex business environments and his ability to communicate these insights effectively.

He has been recognized as one of the leading business thinkers by Thinkers50. He received an Innovation Luminary award from the European Commission in 2014. He received the Industrial Research Institute Medal of Achievement in 2017, and has two honorary doctorates. He was awarded his doctorate from UC Berkeley, Haas School of Business.
