Holly Walter Kerby is a chemist, playwright, teacher, and researcher, with significant contributions to both the scientific and the theatrical world. Beyond her roles as an educator and a playwright, Kerby has also made strides in the scientific world as a researcher. Her work can be found in several science education journals, expanding her reach beyond the classroom and the stage. She has also shared her unique approach to teaching, known as Storyform, at esteemed institutions such as the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science and the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Discovery Center.
Kerby's plays have found their way to Off-Off-Broadway and other locations across the country, demonstrating her unique talent for storytelling. This talent was recognized when she was appointed as the Executive Director of Fusion Science Theater, an organization that combines the allure of storytelling with the power of science to educate public audiences.
At Madison College, Kerby served as a faculty member in both chemistry and playwriting. In 2012, she was honored nationally as the Community College Faculty of the Year by the Association of Community College Trustees. Earlier, in 2007, she was bestowed with the NISOD Excellence in Teaching Award, further solidifying her reputation as a committed educator.
