Jared Bowen

Jared Bowen is the Executive Arts Editor and the host of the television series "Open Studio with Jared Bowen," which delves into the creative process through profiles, performances, and exhibitions from artists in Greater Boston, New England, and beyond. In addition to his role on television, he contributes to WGBH-TV’s nightly news magazine program, "Greater Boston," and regularly appears on 89.7 WGBH. Here, he covers a broad spectrum of cultural events including theater, art, music, dance, and film on WGBH’s Morning Edition and Boston Public Radio. He also engages as a coach on the choir competition show "Sing That Thing!" and serves as the moderator of the Boston Speakers Series at Symphony Hall, facilitating insightful dialogues with a diverse range of influential figures.

Bowen is a prominent member of both the Boston Theater Critics Association and the Boston Online Film Critics Association. His contributions extend to national platforms as well, including the PBS NewsHour and Art New England magazine. His commitment to the arts and media community is further evidenced by his role as a Trustee of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Throughout his career, Bowen has produced five news documentaries for WGBH and the initial three seasons of "Eye on Education." His exceptional reporting in the arts has been recognized with two New England Emmys and an Edward R. Murrow Award. Additionally, he is a laureate of the Commonwealth Award for significant achievement in the arts, humanities, and sciences. Bowen began his professional journey at Dateline NBC in New York and graduated from Emerson College, marking the start of a distinguished career in arts journalism and media.
