Jay Cutler

Jay Cutler is a former NFL quarterback who played in the league for 12 seasons, primarily with the Chicago Bears. He began his professional football career with the Denver Broncos after being selected with the 11th overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. Cutler spent three seasons with the Broncos and was selected to the Pro Bowl. He was then traded to the Bears in 2009. After being released by Chicago in 2017, Cutler initially retired to become a sportscaster for NFL on Fox's television broadcasts, but he returned for one more season with the Miami Dolphins before retiring a second and final time following the 2017 season.

During his collegiate career at Vanderbilt University, Cutler was a standout athlete and a three-year captain, setting school career records for total offense, touchdown passes, passing yards, pass completions, and pass attempts. He was the first player at Vanderbilt to win the SEC Offensive Player of the Year since Bob Goodridge in 1967. Cutler has also been a committed advocate for diabetes awareness and education since revealing in May 2008 that he had been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and required daily insulin shots for treatment. In response to his diagnosis, he collaborated with Eli Lilly and Company on "Touchdowns For Diabetes" during the 2009 season. For every touchdown pass he threw that year, Lilly donated $1,000 to the ADA's "Camp Scholarship" fund to send a child to diabetes camp, and for every completed pass, they donated an additional $100.

Beyond his professional and advocacy efforts, Cutler has also been involved in community service through programs such as Vanderbilt's “Best Buddies,” serving mentally challenged young people. He founded the "Jay Cutler Foundation," which works with Mile High United Way's "Youth Success Initiative" to help at-risk youth graduate from high school. Furthermore, Cutler supports the Denver-based organization "Dedicated to Diabetes" to enhance public understanding of the disease. His engagement in these activities highlights his dedication to giving back to the community and tackling important social issues.
