Jayshree Seth

Jayshree Seth is a highly accomplished scientist, inventor, and advocate for women in STEM. As Corporate Scientist and Chief Science Advocate at 3M, a global innovation company known for its diverse range of products and solutions, her work is twofold: developing new technologies and environmentally sustainable industrial products, and promoting science and advocating for the value of STEM education worldwide.

In the 30+ years Dr. Seth has worked at 3M, she has made significant contributions to the company’s innovation pipeline, holding more than 80 patents in a variety of areas. Her inventive spirit and problem-solving skills have led to the creation of numerous products that have had a substantial impact across various industries, including industrial adhesives, tapes, and healthcare solutions.

Dr. Seth is a frequent speaker at conferences and educational institutions where she shares her journey and insights to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. In recognition of her contributions, Dr. Seth was named 3M's first-ever Chief Science Advocate in 2018, a testament to her leadership in both scientific innovation and community engagement. She is also the author of the book "The Heart of Science – Engineering Footprints, Fingerprints, & Imprints," which combines her personal experiences with practical advice to encourage more people to pursue careers in science and engineering, and "The Heart of Science Engineering Fine Print," which zooms in on the issues of science and leadership through her lens of personal and professional transitions, reflections, and actions.

Dr. Seth holds a PhD in chemical engineering from Clarkson University. She was the fourth woman and first female engineer to be inducted into the Carlton Society, 3M’s Hall of Fame, and is the recipient of a 2020 Achievement Award from the Society of Women Engineers.
