Jordy Nelson

In 100 seasons for the Green Bay Packers franchise, no one has had more receiving yards than Jordy Nelson in 2014 with 1,519 yards - a franchise record. Nelson earned NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2016, an acknowledgment of his fortitude after being inactive for the entire 2015 season due to an ACL injury in his right knee. In 10 seasons with the Packers, Nelson ranks No. 3 in franchise history in receptions (550), No. 5 in receiving yards (7,848), No. 2 in touchdown receptions (69) and No. 3 in 100-yard receiving games (25). His exceptional performance led him to be named to his first career Pro Bowl in the same record-breaking 2014 season. Nelson is the only player in Green Bay Packers history to record three seasons with 13-plus touchdown receptions (2011, 2014, 2016). His efforts in 2016 also saw him leading the NFL in receiving touchdowns.

With his stellar performances, Nelson has not only garnered a slot on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2017 but he also cemented his legacy by being inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 2022. Nelson led the Packers with nine receptions for 140 yards and a touchdown in the Super Bowl XLV victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, this set the franchise record for most receiving yards in a Super Bowl. After his tenure with the Packers, he signed a two-year, $15 million contract with the Oakland Raiders in 2018 and completed the season with 739 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. After announcing his retirement from the NFL in 2019, he signed a one-day contract to retire as a Green Bay Packer.

Before his professional career, Nelson was a former walk-on who started his Wildcat days as a defensive back at Kansas State University. He made his mark on the Wildcat program during his final season as he was named a 2007 Consensus All-American and a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award. In 2007, Nelson set school records for receptions in a game (15) and season (122), receiving yards in a game (214) and season (1,606), and yards per game in a season (133.8). He finished the year with 122 catches for 1,606 yards and 11 touchdowns and was selected in the second round, 36th overall, by Green Bay in the 2008 NFL Draft in recognition of his significant college achievements. He finished his college career with 206 catches for 2,822 yards and 20 scores.

Off the field, Nelson has demonstrated his commitment to giving back. A supporter of Compassion International and their "Fill the Stadium" initiative, he has also helped raise money for SHARP Literacy, a program designed to improve reading among children. His contributions extend beyond the NFL as he was named to the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in 2020 and the Kansas State Hall of Fame in 2021, cementing a legacy that spans from his college days to his professional career.
