Josh Dorfman

Josh Dorfman is co-founder, CEO and host of the podcast, "Supercool." He is a climate entrepreneur, author, and media personality. Most recently, Dorfman co-founded and was CEO of Plantd, a carbon-negative materials manufacturer, where he raised the company’s seed and Series A funding rounds, generated millions in revenue, and built the brand through accolades including the U.S. DOE’s Epic Prize for Cleantech Innovation and Fast Company’s World’s Most Innovative Companies Awards. Earlier, Dorfman led Vine.com, a sustainable products business of Amazon.

Dorfman once lived in his eco-friendly furniture showroom in Brooklyn for four years. He couldn’t afford an apartment and an NYC retail space, so he combined them. Everything was going great until somebody purchased his bed. Dorfman is the only guest to ever ride a bicycle onto The Martha Stewart Show, which, to his zero-carbon mind, is the pinnacle of having arrived. Observing a billion people riding bicycles, Dorfman opened a sales office in Nanjing, China, for Kryptonite Bike Locks in 1996. He eventually realized people don’t buy fancy locks that cost more than unfancy bikes. And everyone wanted a car. That’s when he decided business school was a good idea and became an environmentalist.

Dorfman is also known as “The Lazy Environmentalist,” a media brand he first created as a blog in 2005 and later developed into a daily radio show on SiriusXM and reality television series on Sundance Channel for which he was Executive Producer and Host. In 2009, The Lazy Environmentalist was awarded “Best Reality Show” by the Environmental Media Association. Dorfman is the author of two books on innovative green products and services: The Lazy Environmentalist: Your Guide to Easy, Stylish, Green Living and The Lazy Environmentalist on a Budget.
