Joy-Ann Reid

Joy-Ann Reid is an award-winning journalist and the host of “The ReidOut" on MSNBC, a position that has established her as the first Black woman to host a primetime cable news program. She is also a New York Times bestselling author, known for her works "Fracture: Barack Obama, the Clintons and the Racial Divide," "We Are the Change We Seek: The Speeches of Barack Obama," "The Man Who Sold America: Trump and the Unraveling of the American Story" and her latest work, "Medgar and Myrlie: Medgar Evers and the Love Story That Awakened America." Additionally, Reid co-hosts the podcasts "Reid This, Reid That" and "What to Reid."

Before her current role at MSNBC, Reid hosted “The Reid Report,” a daily program that highlighted her unique analysis and insights. She was also the Managing Editor of theGrio.com, and has extensive experience as a freelance columnist for The Miami Herald and as editor of the political blog The Reid Report. Her background includes roles as a talk radio producer and host for Radio One, and as an online news editor for NBC affiliate WTVJ in Miramar, FL. Her columns and articles have been featured in top publications including The New York Times, The Guardian, The Daily Beast, and New York Magazine.

Reid has been honored with numerous awards including a 2022 NAACP Image Award for "The ReidOut" and recognition from the Women’s Media Center and the National Association of Black Journalists. She has also been a Hearst Visiting Professor at Howard University, teaching about the impact of race and gender on political coverage. Reid graduated from Harvard University in 1991 and is a 2003 Knight Center for Specialized Journalism fellow.

Alongside her husband, Jason Reid, she co-owns the documentary film company Image Lab Media Group. She continues to be a leading voice in media, addressing crucial topics such as women's empowerment, race, justice, and the influence of media in the digital age.
