Karyn Buxman

Karyn Buxman is an international speaker, successful author, and neurohumorist, residing at the intersection of the brain and humor. Her pioneering work in applied humor began with her master's thesis in graduate school and has since expanded through collaborations with leading neuroscientists. She is committed to helping leaders—and those they serve—achieve peak performance and optimum health through the art and science of applied humor. Buxman's insights into therapeutic humor are enhanced by her background as a registered nurse and her role as president and founder of HUMORx.

Over her 25-year career, Buxman has worked with more than 500 organizations, including NASA, the Mayo Clinic, and the Million Dollar Round Table, to entertain, educate, and inspire their audiences. She has been inducted into the National Speaker’s Association’s Speaker Hall of Fame, a prestigious honor she shares with only 227 people globally, including 39 women. Her extensive experience includes keynote programs such as "Funny You Should Say That! A New Approach to Building Relationships," "Amazed & Amused," and "What’s So Funny About...Stress?" Buxman has also authored influential books like "Amazed & Amused: How to Survive and Thrive as a Healthcare Professional" and created the "What's So Funny About…?" series.

Buxman’s mission is to improve global health, business, and peace through laughter, while also aiming to heal the humor-impaired. She has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor and serves on the advisory boards of the Invisible Disabilities Association and the American Happiness Association. Recently, she delivered a TEDx talk titled "How Humor Saved the World," further underscoring her commitment to her field. Her upcoming book, "Funny Means Money: Strategic Humor for Influence and World Domination," set to be published by ForbesBooks, reflects her ongoing advocacy for the strategic use of humor in achieving personal and professional success.
