Kendall Coyne Schofield is an American hockey player who won gold at the 2018 Winter Olympics as a member of the United States women's ice hockey team. She played a vital role in Team USA's success, scoring two goals with one assist and leading the team with 21 shots. She also won silver medals at the 2014 and 2022 Winter Olympics and multiple medals at the IIHF World Women's Championships. Her career began at age 15 when she was named to the United States Under-18 National Team. She was a three-time member and captain of that team, tallying two gold medals and one silver.
The Palos Heights, Illinois native attended Northeastern University in Boston. During her time at Northeastern, she was a two-time captain and three-time All-American, ending her collegiate career as the school's all-time leader in points with 249, goals with 141, and single-season points with 84. Additionally, she became the Hockey East all-time leader in career points, career goals, single-season goals, single-season points, goals per game, and points per game. In 2016, Coyne Schofield won the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, presented to the top female college hockey player. In 2017, she received the NCAA Today's Top 10 Award, and in 2023, she was inducted into the Northeastern University Hall of Fame.
Coyne Schofield's impact extends beyond the ice. In January 2019, she was named a replacement for Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche at the NHL All-Star Skills fastest skater challenge, becoming the first woman to compete in the event. She serves as the first female player development coach for the Chicago Blackhawks and as a youth hockey coach. Additionally, she is a co-founder of the Schofield Family Foundation, focusing on military, first responders, youth sports, and families in need. She is also the president and board member of the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association (PWHPA) and a part owner of the Chicago Red Stars of the NWSL. Coyne Schofield has contributed to broadcasting as an analyst for the Chicago Blackhawks, NHL Network, and NBC Sports, and is recognized for her advocacy for equal pay and equality in women's sports. She is the author of the bestselling autobiography "As Fast As Her" and was named to Forbes’ “30 Under 30” in 2022.
