Kevin Sorbo

In 1993, Kevin Sorbo emerged as a full-fledged international TV star when he was cast as the lead role of Hercules in the series "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys," which aired from 1993 to 1999. His portrayal captured audiences worldwide and laid the groundwork for his continuing success in television and film. He also guest-starred as Hercules in episodes of the successful spin-off series "Xena: Warrior Princess" and provided his voice to the animated Hercules films.

Sorbo's range of roles expanded as he starred as “Captain Dylan Hunt” in the science fiction series "Andromeda" from 2000 to 2005. He accepted his first leading film role in 1997 in the fantasy action feature "Kull the Conqueror." His filmography includes roles in "Walking Tall: The Payback," "Avenging Angel," "Meet the Spartans," and "What If," with the latter earning him the award for Most Inspirational Performance of the Year at the Movie Guide Awards in 2011. In 2014, Sorbo appeared in the faith-based movie "God's Not Dead," which grossed over $75 million at the US Box Office. He also directed and acted in "Let There Be Light" (2017), recognized as one of the top 10 family movies of that year.

Beyond acting, Sorbo has taken on roles as a producer and author. He produced and narrated the documentary "Against the Tide" and was involved in creating BreatheBible.com, a theatrical reading of the New Testament. His memoir, "True Strength: My Journey from Hercules to Mere Mortal and How Nearly Dying Saved My Life," released in 2012, reflects on his recovery from serious health setbacks including three strokes and an aneurysm during his "Hercules" years. He married actress Sam Jenkins, whom he met during her guest appearance on "Hercules" in 1998. They have three children together: Braeden, Shane, and Octavia.

Sorbo's commitment to philanthropy is evident in his role as a national spokesperson for The Afterschool Alliance and his ongoing support for the non-profit organization, A World Fit For Kids. He leads this initiative, which mentors inner-city teens to use school, fitness, sports, and positive role models for success. His motivational talks often focus on themes of health, perseverance, honesty, and overcoming challenges, reflecting both his professional journey and personal experiences with health challenges.
