Kylie Patterson

Kylie Patterson is the Chief Opportunity & Inclusion Officer at CHIPS for America, housed within the Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology. At CHIPS for America, she works to ensure the nation’s $50 billion industrial strategy to bring semiconductor manufacturing back to the U.S. is inclusive and brings opportunity to all communities.

Previously, Patterson was the director of the Subcommittee on Diversity and Inclusion for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Financial Services, where she worked to change policy and practice in the financial services industry. Earlier, as a staff member on the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, she provided outreach to underrepresented small business interests, promoted and crafted federal policies that further diversity, equity and inclusion, and conducted analysis on the impact of policies on underrepresented small businesses across the United States. Patterson was a key member of the policy team that negotiated the 2021 Minority Business Development Act that codified the U.S. Minority Business Development Agency at the U.S. Department of Commerce, as well as the reauthorization and extension of the Paycheck Protection Program.

Patterson’s career is characterized by her commitment to centering and supporting Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC), women, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and people living in underserved and rural areas. Her work with Equity Vision Consulting, a business she founded, has been paused due to her federal appointment.

Patterson received her BA from Temple University in African American Studies and Politics and her MPP from the University of Minnesota.
