Kyra Phillips

Kyra Phillips is a news anchor and reporter, currently serving as an investigative correspondent for ABC News since April 2018. She is best known for her work of thirteen years at CNN.

Phillips joined CNN in 1999, anchoring programs such as "Live From," "CNN Newsroom," and "American Morning." She moved to HLN in 2012 to anchor "Raising America with Kyra Phillips," a program that focused on news impacting the modern American family. Additionally, she has hosted election coverage and special reports. Throughout her career, she has reported from challenging locations including war zones and the South Pole, and has interviewed notable figures such as U.S. presidents and Mother Teresa.

Phillips' extensive field work includes four tours reporting in Iraq, first as an embedded journalist aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, then covering the war and its effects on the Iraqi people. Her stories have ranged from coverage of the Baghdad School for the Blind to exclusive insights into Saddam Hussein's cell and personal diary. For her thorough and impactful journalism, Phillips has been recognized with multiple awards, including two Peabody awards, six Emmy awards, and two Edward R. Murrow awards for investigative reporting. Her investigative reporting also spurred national legislation protecting children from privacy violations.

In addition to her journalism career, Phillips is actively involved in mentorship and advocacy, working with youth organizations, journalism students, and veterans. She serves on boards for various foundations and received the National Global Down Syndrome Foundation's Quincy Jones Exceptional Advocacy Award in 2013, and serves as a Global Ambassador. Phillips is the co-author of "The Whole Life Fertility Plan," published in 2015, and a contributing writer to "Chicken Soup for the Soul: Billy Graham & Me." She is also the co-host of "The Mom Squad Podcast," discussing contemporary issues facing families today.

Phillips earned a bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Southern California. She is married to fellow journalist John Roberts, Chief White House Correspondent for FOX. They are proud parents of twins.
