Larry Brown Biography
Larry Brown is a basketball coach who is currently the head basketball coach at Southern Methodist University. Prior to coaching, Brown played basketball at the University of North Carolina. Brown was selected to play in the 1964 Summer Olympics team where he played and helped them win the gold medal. After a brief period of being an assistant coach for North Carolina, he joined the ABA where he played for the New Orleans Buccaneers, Oakland Oaks, Washington Caps, Virginia Squires and Denver Rockets. Brown’s first head coaching job was at Davidson College, but that only lasted through the summer, as he never coached a game. Brown has coached for the Carolina Cougars, Denver Nuggets, UCLA Bruins, New Jersey Nets, Kansas Jayhawks, San Antonio Spurs, LA Clippers, Indiana Pacers, Philadelphia 76ers, Detroit Pistons, NY Knicks, Charlotte Bobcats and the SMU Mustangs. Brown was also chosen to be the head coach for the USA men’s basketball team at the 2004 Summer Olympics that earned a bronze medal.
