Laura Okmin

Laura Okmin is a sports broadcaster for FOX Sports, founder of GALvanize, a company dedicated to mentoring women in sports, and CEO of LO Productions.

Joining the FOX Sports Network in 2002, Okmin has served in various capacities, including sideline reporter and features reporter for NFL on FOX, MLB All-Star Game Red Carpet Show, and sideline reporter for Westwood One's NFL Thursday night games. She has hosted and reported for national FSN shows such as “It’s All Good,” “Pro Football Preview,” and “Totally Football,” where she managed the entire feature production process. Over her career, which spans more than 25 years, Okmin has covered major sporting events including over 10 Super Bowls, the Olympics, and the NBA Finals. Her production company, formed in October 2009, produced and hosted "PROfiles," a 30-minute program revealing the personal lives of NFL players off the field, which aired on FSN.

Before her tenure at FOX, Okmin worked as a sideline and features reporter for TNT between 2002 to 2003, handling segments for the Thrashers and Braves and covering the NBA Playoffs. Her work at CNN spanned from 1997 to 2002, where she was a sports anchor and host for "CNN Early Edition" and "CNN Morning News," programs that were simulcast on CNN and CNNSI. Okmin began her broadcasting career in local sports markets, including Montgomery, AL, and Chattanooga, TN, and also worked at Sports Channel in Chicago. During her time in Chicago, she traveled with the Chicago Bulls during their championship run, covered the Chicago Bears daily, and received a Chicago Midwest Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Sports – Single Program Covering Sports.

In addition to her broadcasting roles, Okmin’s impact extends off-camera through her work with GALvanize. She focuses on building trust and authentic connections, essential skills she imparts through media training programs designed to help professional athletes, coaches, and business professionals manage their narratives effectively. Her commitment to empowering the next generation is further highlighted by her establishment of The Stuart Scott Minority Scholarship in memory of the late ESPN anchor, supporting young women participating in GALvanize programs.

Okmin's versatility as a broadcaster and mentor is complemented by her authorship of the children's book "Mommy Has Cancer," published in 2002, and her leadership in hosting "Home Field Advantage," a show dedicated to renovating youth sports facilities. Throughout her career, Laura Okmin has demonstrated a profound ability to influence and educate through media, making her a notable figure in the sports broadcasting and mentoring fields.
