Marcia Tate

Dr. Marcia L. Tate, EdD, is the founder of Developing Minds, Inc. and served as the Executive Director of Professional Development for the DeKalb County School System in Decatur, Georgia. She is a former teacher, reading specialist, language arts coordinator, and staff development director.

Throughout her career, Dr. Tate has educated over 500,000 administrators, teachers, parents, and business and community leaders worldwide. She is the author of 12 books, including the best-selling "Worksheets Don’t Grow Dendrites" series. Her notable publications include "Worksheets Don't Grow Dendrites: 20 Instructional Strategies that Engage the Brain" and "Sit & Get Won't Grow Dendrites: 20 Professional Learning Strategies that Engage the Adult Brain." Dr. Tate’s commitment to effective teaching strategies was recognized when she received the 2001 Distinguished Staff Developer Award for the State of Georgia and when her department was awarded the Exemplary Program Award for the state of Georgia.

Dr. Tate received her bachelor’s degree at Spelman College, where she was honored with the Apple Award for excellence in the field of education. She also holds a master's degree from the University of Michigan, a specialist degree in educational leadership from Georgia State University, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Clark Atlanta University. Dr. Tate is married to Tyrone Tate and is the proud mother of three children and nine grandchildren. Her work continues to impact the educational community profoundly, both in the U.S. and internationally.
