Martin Biegelman

Martin Biegelman has been investigating and preventing fraud and corruption for decades in leadership roles in law enforcement, consulting, and the corporate sector. His extensive experience includes financial investigations, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and anti-bribery compliance, corporate compliance assessment and design, litigation consulting, and investigative due diligence. Biegelman's work on behalf of corporate management and boards includes internal investigations alleging FCPA, corruption, fraud, kickbacks, conflicts of interest, whistleblower retaliation, and other employee and vendor misconduct. He has conducted and managed complex and high-risk internal investigations in more than 70 countries.

In 2002, Biegelman founded and led Microsoft Corporation’s Financial Integrity Unit, a highly acclaimed global fraud prevention and anti-corruption program that protected Microsoft from financial and reputational risk and continues to serve as a model for other global companies.

He is also a former law enforcement professional having served as a United States Postal Inspector in a variety of investigative and management assignments. As a federal agent, he was a subject matter expert in fraud detection and prevention. Earlier in his career, he was a criminal investigator with the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.

Biegelman is widely recognized as a thought leader in fraud and corruption prevention and holds certifications as both a Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional.

He is a sought-after speaker and instructor on white-collar crime, corruption, the FCPA, identity theft, fraud prevention, and corporate compliance and has written six authoritative books on these topics. He is the 2008 recipient of the Cressey Award bestowed annually by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners for lifetime achievements in the detection and deterrence of fraud.
