Mary Ellen Coe

Mary Ellen Coe has made her mark in the global tech industry as the Chief Business Officer for YouTube, where she plays a pivotal role in leading global business operations, content, and distribution partnerships. Her responsibilities extend to managing YouTube's monetization ecosystem, which encompasses services such as YouTube TV, YouTube Music, and YouTube Premium. Furthermore, Coe is in charge of the YouTube Partner Program, an initiative that provides support to a vast network of creators, artists, and media companies on a worldwide scale. She is also an advocate for making YouTube stars Emmy-eligible. Under her leadership, YouTube became the first streaming service to command more than 10% of all TV use in the United States, beating out Disney.

Prior to her tenure at YouTube, Coe served as President of Google Customer Solutions. In this capacity, she was entrusted with the management of the global ads business for mid-market and small businesses. Her professional journey also includes a 12-year stint as a Partner at McKinsey & Company. Here, Coe honed her expertise in the consumer, media, and tech sectors, providing a strong foundation for her current role at YouTube.

Outside her corporate career, Coe has exercised her business acumen in the boardroom. She is a Director on the Board of Merck & Co., Inc., a leading pharmaceutical company. In addition, Coe has experience in retail, having served on the Board of Directors for Whole Foods Market during its acquisition by Amazon.
