Mary Kate Shea is the Director of Professional Athletes and Technical Support at the Boston Athletic Association. She is skilled in global pro-athlete recruitment, communications, media, integrated marketing, strategic planning, thought leadership, sponsorship, event management, and digital experiences. The Boston Globe wrote an article on Shea about her dedication to giving elite Boston Marathon runners the VIP treatment before running the race herself. Shea has run over 20 Boston Marathons.
Shea started her career as a consultant, working for MKS Consulting before transitioning into a sponsorship, pro-athletes, and communications consultant role at John Hancock. She rose through the ranks of John Hancock, reaching the Senior Director for Sports Marketing and Sponsorship/Pro-Athletes position before moving to the Boston Athletic Association in 2021. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in German as well as a graduate of Boston University, where she got her masters in human resources and education.
