Meredith Perry

Meredith Perry is the founder and CEO of uBeam. She founded the company in 2011 while she was an undergraduate studying at the University of Pennsylvania. During her time at the university, Perry not only pursued her academic interests but also built the first model of her wireless charging system, which she showcased at the All Things Digital conference in 2011. Perry describes the initial demonstration as featuring "two toaster-sized boxes that were two feet apart," capable of beaming power over that distance using ultrasound technology.

Perry graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2011 with a degree in paleobiology. Apart from her work with uBeam, she served as a student ambassador for NASA, where she worked on technology aimed at detecting life on Mars and conducted experiments in zero gravity. These experiences have contributed to her broad perspective on technology and innovation.

Now established as a promising technology firm, uBeam is progressing towards commercializing its wireless charging system. The company has developed a working prototype and anticipates having a product available on store shelves within the next two years. uBeam's technology aims to offer advantages over existing wireless charging systems like Qi, which requires close proximity to a charging base. Perry's achievements have earned her numerous accolades, including inclusion in Fortune’s “40 Under 40” Mobilizers, Forbes’ “30 Under 30,” and Vanity Fair’s “The New Establishment.” She has also been named one of Fast Company’s “Most Creative People” and received Elle Magazine’s Genius Award, recognizing her innovative contributions to technology.
