Metro Boomin

Leland Wayne, known professionally as Metro Boomin, is an American record producer, record executive, and DJ. He is recognized for his dark production style and its influence on modern hip-hop and trap music. Some of his frequent collaborators include Future, Young Thug, The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Don Toliver, 21 Savage, Gucci Mane, Gunna, and Nav.

Boomin was raised in St. Louis, starting his music career as a producer in 2009 when he was 16. He later moved to Atlanta to attend Morehouse College in 2011, where he continued collaborating with Atlanta-based artists like Future, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Gucci Mane, and Migos. His breakthrough came after producing the song "Tuesday" by iLoveMakonnen and Drake, which reached number 12 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Subsequently, Boomin produced several U.S. top-20 singles before attaining his first number-one with "Bad and Boujee" by Migos.

In addition to working on his own music, Boomin has released collaborative projects with artists such as 21 Savage, Gucci Mane, Nav, and Big Sean. His debut studio album "Not All Heroes Wear Capes" and its follow-up, "Heroes & Villains," both debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200. He has received numerous awards and nominations for his work as a producer. Beyond music, Boomin has ventured into film, appearing in "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse."

Boomin has also extended his influence in the industry by founding the record label Boominati Worldwide as an imprint of Republic Records in June 2017. He has continued to contribute significantly to the music scene, with his latest works including co-producing Young Thug's third studio album, "Business Is Business," in June 2023 and producing the lobby theme track for Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter 4 Season OG, released in November 2023. He also released a collaborative studio album with Future titled "We Don't Trust You" in March 2024 and its sequel, "We Still Don't Trust You," in April 2024.

Boomin, who lost his mother in 2022, has been dedicated to celebrating single mothers and their children and launched the "Single Moms Are Superheroes" initiative in 2017. Following his mom's passing, Boomin launched a continuation of the program, now titled "Leslie Joanne Single Moms Are Superheroes," and has kicked off a national multi-city grant-giving initiative to provide $20,000 grants and show tickets to non-profit organizations supporting single mothers. This initiative coincides with his and Future's North American "We Trust You" tour, with the grant applying to each stop on the tour.
