Michael Chae Biography
Michael S. Chae is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Blackstone, the world’s largest alternative asset manager with over $1 trillion in assets, and is a member of the firm’s Management Committee and investment committees across most of the firm’s businesses. He joined Blackstone in 1997 and was a senior leader in its global private equity business before becoming its CFO.
Before joining Blackstone, Chae previously worked at The Carlyle Group and Dillon, Read & Co. He received an AB from Harvard College, an MPhil. in International Relations from Cambridge University and a JD from Yale Law School.
Chae He has been active in the non-profit world with a focus on education and policy. He served as the President of the Board of Trustees of the Lawrenceville School, and remains a Trustee Emeritus and co-chair of its capital campaign. He serves on the boards of the Robin Hood Foundation, the St. Bernard’s School, the Asia Society, and the Harvard Management Company. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and founded the Michael S. and Alexa B. Chae Initiative in Private Sector Leadership at Yale Law School.
