Michael Hugos

Michael Hugos is an author, speaker, and award-winning chief information officer. He collaborates with clients to devise solutions to complex problems, focusing primarily on supply chains, business intelligence, and new business ventures. Hugos integrates techniques from lean business startups with agile software development and game theory to optimize processes and solve challenges.

Michael Hugos spent six years as CIO of a national distribution organization, developing a suite of supply chain and e-business systems that significantly transformed the company's operations and revenue model. For this work, he received the CIO 100 Award twice for resourcefulness and boldness, the InformationWeek 500 Award for innovation, and the Computerworld Premier 100 Award for career achievement.

Hugos is a prolific writer, having authored eight books, including "Essentials of Supply Chain Management," which has been the best-selling supply chain book worldwide since 2004 according to Amazon. His writings also extend to the CIO Magazine blog "Doing Business in Real Time," and other titles like "Business in the Cloud: What Every Business Needs to Know About Cloud Computing," and "Enterprise Games: Using Game Mechanics to Build a Better Business."

In 2012, Hugos co-founded SCM Globe, which provides a cloud-based supply chain modeling and simulation application. This innovative tool is utilized in education and training, as well as by businesses for simulating and improving supply chain operations globally. SCM Globe has become an integral tool in colleges and executive education seminars worldwide, teaching logistics and supply chain management concepts.

Michael Hugos is also a recognized speaker and has delivered presentations and seminars across Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America. He is dedicated to agile development methods in IT and business, having mentored managers and development teams at major organizations including Microsoft, Starbucks Coffee, Aramark Healthcare, and the U.S. Navy Medical Logistics Command. Hugos holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, further underlining his expertise in his field.
