Morgan W. McCall Jr

Morgan McCall is a Professor of Management and Organization in the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.

His research on the development and derailment of executives has appeared in numerous articles and books, including the trilogy The Lessons of Experience, High Flyers, and Developing Global Executives, and most recently Using Experience to Develop Leadership Talent: How Organizations Leverage On-The-Job Development for SIOP’s Professional Practice series (co-edited with Cynthia McCauley).

He received the “Distinguished Professional Contributions Award” from the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, the Executive Development Roundtable’s Marion Gislason award for “Leadership in Executive Development,” and (with George Hollenbeck) the HR People and Strategy Walker Award for an “outstanding contribution to the People & Strategy journal.”

He has a B.S. degree with honors from Yale and a Ph.D. from Cornell, was Director of Research and a Senior Behavioral Scientist at the Center for Creative Leadership, and is a Fellow of SIOP. At USC he teaches leadership-related courses in the MBA programs and for the Office of Executive Education.

He has worked with a number of companies over the years including 3M, Disney, Eaton, Johnson & Johnson, Microsoft, Nordstrom, Procter & Gamble, Toyota, and Yum! Brands.
