MyKayla Skinner

MyKayla Skinner is an American artistic gymnast known for her accomplishments on both national and international stages. She was the 2016 Olympic alternate for the women's gymnastics team and made a significant impact at the 2014 World Championships, where she helped the U.S. team clinch a gold medal and earned an individual bronze medal on vault. Throughout her senior career, Skinner has amassed 11 medals at the USA National Championships. She also excelled in collegiate gymnastics, competing for the University of Utah where she won two NCAA championships and set the NCAA record for consecutive routines without a fall (161).

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Skinner showcased her resilience and competitive spirit. Initially not qualifying for the finals due to the two-per-country rule, she seized the opportunity to compete in the vault final after Simone Biles withdrew. Skinner won the silver medal, becoming the oldest U.S. Olympic gymnast to compete since 2004. Her performance in Tokyo and throughout her career has been featured in major media outlets such as NBC, The New York Times, and People magazine.

Off the gymnastic mats, Skinner is also active in the digital space where she manages a popular YouTube channel that has garnered close to 20 million views. The channel offers an inside look at her life and training, engaging a wide audience. Additionally, she was featured in the Peacock documentary "Golden: The Journey of USA’s Elite Gymnasts," which highlights the challenges and triumphs of elite gymnastics. Currently, Skinner is completing her undergraduate degree in Utah and continues to inspire as a speaker on topics such as resilience and overcoming challenges, sharing her journey and experiences to motivate others.
